This week Ed covers Montanists and other factions that were in play during the early church years, mainly the 100-300 AD era. The focus of today’s preemptive strike on understanding the Book of Revelation is to see what our church fathers wrestled with. Mention is also given of scenarios that led up to Martin Luther and the Great Reformation of the 1500’s.  Ed mentions that we will be getting into the actual book of Revelation in a couple of weeks, at which time it will feel like we are flying through to the end.

Whether you are a preterist (ala R. C. Sproul), a historicist (which is Ed’s claim) or other, the background to the study of Revelation is proving itself to be critical to a deeper grasp of this otherwise “imaginary” book.
